About Us
The Zook Farm Equipment story didn’t begin with the first ever, east-of-the-Mississippi, one million bushel GSI bin installation back in 2010.
It doesn’t even start back in 1994 with Tom and Malinda Zook, their farm and a part-time, fledgling bin building business run out of their basement.
Actually the Zook Farm Equipment story dates back over 40 years. It was in 1972 that founder Ed Zook began a small family owned business building bins for local farms. What an opportunity it provided Ed and his family of eleven. Being a hardworking farmer himself the bin building business was a natural extension to the family farm. However 1988 brought tough economic times to area farmers as well as many farmers across Michigan and as result the difficult decision was made to close Zook Farm Equipment.
Just a few short years later in 1994, Ed’s son Tom began to get calls for bin construction and repair from farmers who had worked with his father’s business in the past. Zook’s hard won reputation with area farmers had survived and was still intact with the re-opening of, what is now, the present day Zook Farm Equipment on Pratt Lake Avenue in Alto, Michigan.
Nowadays Zook Farm Equipment is one of the top GSI grain dealers in the state. Not only do we sell more jobs but the scale of the setups have become much larger, tipping the scales with the first million bushel bin installation east of the Mississippi. Zook Farm Equipment has grown from being Tom, Malinda, the kids and one or two hired men to over a staff of over 15 full time employees.
At any point in the year you’ll see Zook trucks, cranes and service personnel working across lower Michigan, the thumb area and south into Indiana, serving area farmers and delivering top quality service and know-how from a company whose roots began and remain in farming.
We are very proud to serve the growing needs of the farming community by providing the quality parts, products, equipment and services you have come to know and trust.
